Commissioning a pet portrait with me is easy, the steps are outlined below:
Step 1: Choose the size & medium of the portrait
Visit the pricing page and select the size & medium of the portrait you would like me to create. If you would like a specific portrait that is not detailed or have other requirements, please contact me and I will create a quote.
If you would like to commission a pet portrait for someone else, I offer gift vouchers & cards, please contact me to purchase one.
My waiting list is usually between 2 to 4 weeks after the full payment has been received. If you need the painting quickly or for a special date such as a birthday or anniversary, contact me to discuss possibilities, speedy commissions are sometimes possible.
Please take note that prices do not include postage and delivery, these costs can be found on the pricing page.
Once you have decided on the medium and size of the portrait get in touch using the contact form so we can get started!
Step 2: Send me a selection of photos
In the first picture above, the quality is good enough to create a portrait of the head but not the full body or head and shoulders as the table is obstructing the field of view.
The second picture above is blurred and isn't good enough to create a portrait, as there is not enough detail.
The third picture is perfect for a portrait that includes shoulders, it's a good quality picture. I am able to see the details and the lighting is good.
Step 3: Review a portrait mock-up / preview
I will create and send you a mock-up to help you visualize your final portrait, it will incorporate your ideas and preferences and will give you and idea of what the portrait look-like.Step 4: Portrait Creation
After approval of the preview, I will start the portrait of your beloved pet. During the process, I will send you two and three images of the painting or drawing. This allows me to show you the process and for you to give me feedback. I will always send you a final image of the portrait for approval before dispatching you the portrait.I use professional quality materials for commissions, these include:
- Derwent pastel pencils
- Derwent Studio
- Derwent Graphic
- Derwent Drawing
- Conte a Paris Soft Pastel
Derwent is known for their range of natural colours which give a natural look to your portraits. Conte brings the vibrancy I look for in pastel. These brands are very versatile and enable me to create outstanding pet portraits.
I use different brands of paper, again made for professional use, such as CANSON, Fabriano, Winsor & Newton. and Strathmore. All are acid-free and contain cotton, these are perfect to capture the fur!
